Frequently asked questions

What is a Gaussian splat?

A Gaussian splat is a 3D representation made from many coloured Gaussian primitives. It can reconstruct a real place or object from multiple photos or video, or be generated from a single source image. Splats preserve rich visual detail and render in real time in a browser, game engine or VR headset.

What file formats do splats come in?

The standard source format is .ply (full quality, large). Compressed .spz and .sog formats cut file sizes by 10–20x for web and mobile delivery. SplatMart listings include the source file plus auto-generated compressed versions where available.

How do I view a Gaussian splat?

Every SplatMart listing has an interactive 3D preview right in the browser. After download, you can use free viewers and editors like SuperSplat, engine plugins for Unity and Unreal, or web libraries like PlayCanvas and Spark for Three.js.

Can I sell my own splats on SplatMart?

Yes, anyone can sell. Upload an existing .ply or .spz splat, or publish one you created with Pygmalion or Leighton. Set a price or list it free, and SplatMart creates the previews and product page. Payouts are made via Stripe.

Who owns the splats I upload or buy?

Creators keep full ownership of everything they upload. Listing on SplatMart never transfers your rights to us. Buyers receive a clear usage licence shown on each listing before purchase.

Are there free Gaussian splats?

Yes. Sellers can list splats for free, and the Browse page has a free-only filter. Free downloads are a great way to test a seller's quality or your pipeline before buying larger scenes.

How much does it cost to make a Gaussian splat?

It is free to start: every new account gets 50 credits with no card required. Plus includes 3,000 credits for US$17.99/month; Pro includes 10,000 for US$49.99/month. Top-ups cost US$25 for 3,000 credits, with no subscription required. Unused credits never expire. For Leighton captures, Mini is 10 credits for up to 25 photos, Plus is 50 credits, Pro is 100 credits including 500 inputs, and Max is 200 credits when available. The full price is always shown before you generate.
